Jack Birkenhead joined the League Committee in 1965-66 season as an executive member and in 1974-75 took on board the Registration Secretary's office. A further change in committee saw him elected to Chairman in 1978-79 and he held this position until 2004-05, a period of 26 years unbroken, and the longest serving official position within the League todate. Jack then took on board the less strenuous position of President of the League.
Before joining the League Committee, Jack was a referee and before that a hard working player.
Jack attends as many meetings as possible and is still quite vocal in discussions. Jack was awarded the Football Association Medal for 50 years service to Football in 2009.
